Spooky season is basically our permission slip to get a little weird with photography. Witchy portraits, creepy bridals, BOOdoir, horror-inspired couples sessions, fake blood, smoke, candelabras, dramatic makeup…if your idea makes somebody else ask, “Wait, you want to do WHAT?” there is a very good chance we want to hear more! 🤩
We are based in Lafayette and photograph creative sessions throughout Louisiana, but the location is only part of it. The fun is figuring out what kind of spooky actually feels like you.
What Kind of Halloween Photoshoots Can You Do?
Honestly… almost anything!
Your version of Halloween might be dark and romantic, campy horror, gothic glamour, witchy and magical, creepy-cute, full-on gore, or something so oddly specific that we need a group chat and a Pinterest board to figure out how to pull it off.
A few directions we love include:
- Witchy portraits with candles, smoke, dramatic fabrics, or occult-inspired details
- BOOdoir with darker styling, masks, lingerie, pumpkins, or horror elements
- Creepy bridals for anyone who thinks a white dress looks better with a little haunted energy
- Horror couples sessions with slasher-film, dark romance, or campy concepts
- Spooky best friend shoots because bad decisions are always more fun with company 😂
- Character or costume concepts built around something you already love
- Creative portraits that just happen to get significantly stranger around October
You do not have to choose something traditionally “Halloween” either. If the idea has the right mood, we can build from there.
What Makes a Spooky Session Actually Work?
A costume by itself does not automatically make a great concept. The sessions that really come together usually have a clear mood behind them. That might come from the location, lighting, makeup, styling, props, or one very specific idea that gives us somewhere to run.
We already keep a growing collection of spooky goodies around here, including skulls, skeletons, candles, candelabras, fog and smoke effects, witchy details, costume pieces, and other things normal offices probably do not have lying around.
For sessions that need an extra horror edge, we can also collaborate with a local professional SFX (special effects) makeup artist, Blair Andrews McCarthy. Because sometimes the correct amount of fake blood is, in fact, more. 🧛🏻♀️
Can Halloween Boudoir Be Spooky Without Feeling Cheesy?
Absolutely!!! BOOdoir can go gothic and glamorous, dark and sultry, horror-inspired, playful, witchy, or straight-up unsettling if that happens to be your thing. The trick is not throwing pumpkins into a normal boudoir session and calling it Halloween. We want the spooky part to feel built into the concept.

Where Can You Take Halloween Photos in Louisiana?
The best location depends entirely on what we are trying to make.
A wooded area can feel witchy or unsettling. Old architecture gives us instant character. A controlled studio setup lets us get much more dramatic with lighting, fog, and styling. Private property can open up ideas we simply cannot pull off somewhere public.
We photograph many creative sessions around Lafayette and South Louisiana, but we would rather choose a location because it actually works for the concept than because it appears on somebody’s “best photo spots” list. Sometimes we need beautiful… sometimes we need creepy… and sometimes we need somewhere nobody is going to question why there is a skeleton in the trunk. 😅
What If You Have a Spooky Idea but No Clue How to Pull It Off?
Perfect! That is actually one of our favorite starting points. 🤭
You do not need to arrive with the location, props, wardrobe, poses, and lighting already figured out. Give us the idea, the screenshots, the movie reference, the chaotic Pinterest board, or even one strangely specific sentence. We can help work through what makes sense, what we already have, what we need to find, and how to turn the idea into something that photographs well.
And if your concept requires us to get a little ridiculous in the process…well, spooky season has never exactly been known for restraint 👻
Do You Have to Be a Horror Person?
Nope. Some of our clients want genuinely creepy. Others want dramatic, sexy, witchy, theatrical, funny, or just a little darker than what they normally do.
You also do not need modeling experience. We handle the posing, lighting, movement, and all the “what do I do with my hands?” stuff while you focus on not tripping over the fog machine. The goal is not to turn you into OUR idea of spooky. We want to figure out yours and for you to have fun in the process!

Creative portraits already give us permission to experiment, and Halloween basically kicks that door wide open. So yes, we love spooky season.
